"Marlins"
Brian Evans is the owner and head coach of the West Mobile Marlins. He has over 30 years experience as a competitive
swim coach. He formed what is now the West Mobile Marlins in 1997 after 14 years as swim coach with CMSA and GMAA.
As the Marlins certified USA head coach, he equally divides his coaching duties among both the Elite and Competitive
teams. Over the years, Brian has developed numerous City of Mobile, State of Alabama and Southeastern Champions.
Brian has worked to develop swimmers at several noted establishments here in Mobile that include the Country Club of
Mobile , Heron Lakes Country Club (formally Skyline C.C.),Oakwood Swim and Racket Club, Alpine Hills Swim Club and
UMS-Wright Prep School.  While at the Country Club of Mobile, Brian coached CCM to 9 straight MCAL City Meet
Championships and just won the 2011 MCAL City Championship again as head coach of West Mobile Swim Club. He was
named GMSDL "Coach of the Year ' in 1983 and  1985. He was also named the MCAL "Coach of the Year " in 2001.
Brian has earned a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Physical Education form the University of South Alabama and an
Athletic Trainers degree from the United States Sports Academy. Brian is also a current member of the National
Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association.
He continues full time employment as an Adapted Physical Education Specialist with the Mobile County Public School
system.  He is also the current owner, Aquatics Director and Head Swim Team Coach of West Mobile Swim Club. He is a
member of Dauphin Way Baptist Church, has been married to his wife Debbie for 31 years and they have four daughters
and two grandchildren.

Leighann Plagge is in her fifth year with the Marlins working as a USA certified coach assisting with the Bronze teams.
Leighann is a former USA swimmer with the Marlins and State qualifier for Baker High School. She has also served as an
assistant coach and swim instructor in the West Mobile Swim Club during the summer league. She is currently a Senior at
the University of South Alabama working towards her degree.
